The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) scored victories early this 1st quarter of 2013. For starters, the Josenian Junior Diplomats, the official organization of the A.B. International Studies students of USJ-R earned their UNESCO Club Accreditation on January 26. Two of the faculty members of the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy (DSSP)  bolstered the triumphs of CAS by garnering awards in the 3rd International Conference on Multi-Disciplinary Research held at the Centro Bacolod Hotel and Residences on February 7-9, 2013.

Dr. Ma. Victoria Sy, USJ-R College of Arts and Sciences faculty, attended an international research conference held in Taipei, Taiwan on January 20-22, 2013. The conference was dubbed as the 10th International Conference on Asia Pacific Business Innovation and Technology Management. Researchers and practitioners from all over Asia gathered during said event to exchange ideas on the latest business innovations and technology management developments in the universities and industries of the Asia-Pacific region.  Dr. Sy was one of the presenters during the conference.

Aimed at calibrating the debate capability of the Josenian debaters and the debaters of Metro Cebu, the Josenian Debatista and the Ateneo Debate Education Program Team joined together for a Debate Training and Seminar held at the University of San Jose-Recoletos on January 12 and 13, 2013. Numerous schools in Cebu participated in said activity namely: USC, CIT-U, UP Cebu, UC, USPF, Paref Springdale, SWU, and USJ-R High School.

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) together with the CAS Council of Presidents spent some memorable time with their adopted Gawad Kalinga community in Mananga, Talisay City during their Christmas Fellowship get-together on December 22, 2012. The fellowship not only featured the customary merriment and giving of bundles of joy but also called for the renewal of the commitment of the partner communities. CAS representatives also presented how the partnership is faring through the Project and Progress Report presentation.

A week after participating in an educational tour, the Political Science Society, through its members, witnessed a Legislative Session of the Cebu City at the Cebu City Hall on September 5, 2012. The activity was aimed at providing the members adequate knowledge as to legislative proceedings. Said activity was participated in mostly by freshmen and sophomores.
